  1. Tell everyone you know to see Kanyini and sign up to the Kanyini website.
  2. Be optimistic and believe each person can make a difference. We don't need to wait for the government.
  3. Make friends with Aboriginal people and hear their stories.
  4. Educate yourself about Australian history - all the stuff we didn't learn at school.
  5. Lobby to have your kids' schools incorporate more Indigenous history into their curriculum.
  6. Travel throughout Australia. Get to know your own country.
  7. Get excited about Australia's ancient Indigenous culture. There's a lot to learn in our own backyards.
  8. Support Indigenous artists. Buy their CDs, attend their films and performances.
  9. Volunteer to work in Aboriginal Communities or organizations. Visit the website www.icv.com.au
  10. Log onto Koori Mail www.koorimail.com.au and/or Indigenous Times www.nit.com.au to hear the news from an Indigenous perspective. Don't always believe the mainstream media!
  11. Lobby to have the Aboriginal flag flown next to the Australian flag at all times. Maybe even lobby for a new flag.
  12. Learn what Aboriginal nation you live in, what language was/is spoken, "I live in Pitjantjatjara Country..."
  13. Learn an Aboriginal language.
  14. Continually acknowledge country and the traditional owners in all formal gatherings.
  15. Support your local Indigenous community group e.g. Redfern Community Centre if you live in Sydney.
  16. Write letters to the editor if you see any injustice in our system. Don't remain silent.
  17. If you run a business, employ Indigenous staff or train an Indigenous apprentice.
  18. Employ Indigenous performers ands speakers for your business and community functions.
  19. Support our Indigenous Australians in whatever way you can. Healing in this country requires a lot of love, courage and honesty and the belief it is possible. Where there is true care, there is very little division.
